Four Essentials of a Healthy Church - Acts 2:42

Acts 2:42 NIV
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

The Emphasis on Biblical Teaching

Christ’s teaching is the basis for truth - John 8:31-32

John 8:31–32 NIV
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

The Word of God is all we need for Godly living - 2 Tim 3:16-17

2 Timothy 3:16–17 NIV
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Emphasis on Fellowship (Relationships)

Relationships are a major focus of Jesus’ teaching - John 13:34-35

John 13:34–35 NIV
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Loving others is second only to loving God - Mark 12:30-31

Mark 12:30–31 NIV
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

From the Golden rule to loving our enemies, Jesus was concerned about our relationships

The Emphasis on the Work of Christ (The Lord’s Supper)

Jesus gave us the Lord’s supper so that we would not easily forget His sacrifice for us

The Emphasis on Prayer

Prayer brings us into God’s presence

Four Observations of the Healthy Church - Acts 2:43-47

Acts 2:43–47 NIV

They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
