Micah 7:8-9

Micah 7:8–9 ESV
Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light; I shall look upon his vindication.
If youre anything like me, then you sin. I hope that this wasnt something that you went through over break but for me it was the case, I chose myself over God and fell back into the same sins that held me before coming to the BI.
The enemy, because we do have real enemies, namely sin and satan and our flesh, would want nothing more than for us to remain there, in our sin.
The enemy will tell you lie after lie and you know them very well.
How could you do this again?
Look at you, worthless, scum, the lowest of the low.
Why even go back to God when youre just going to sin again?
Will God even listen to you and accept you after youve failed Him once again.
I bring all of this up because maybe this is you right now or maybe this has been you, and just as importantly this might be one of our campers.
God has made them, us, His children, His sons, but we cant get past our sin and fell like we cannot approach God.
Micah tell us the attitude and mind of a believer.
Micah 7:8 ESV
Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.
He also tell us that because God disciplines those He loves we will face God’s wrath to some degree because that is the consequence of our sin against Him.
Hebrews 12:6–8 ESV
For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
The last part of of verse 9 is the part that I find most amazing.
Micah 7:9 ESV
I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light; I shall look upon his vindication.
God Himself is the one that pleads our cause!
This crazy because there are times that I don’t even feel like pleading my own cause and if it wasnt for the work of the Holy Spirit revealing the truth of the gospel to me I wouldnt have even thought about pleading my own cause.
He executed judgment ON His own Son Jesus FOR me! And for You! And for these campers!
God has already done all the work it takes to be restored and reconciled!
It does required faith to step back into the light and walk with Christ even once again but Micah tells us that He will bring me out to the light and that I shall look upon His vindication.
In this life there is nothing like seeing your life free from sin and from your past.
And the simplest way that it can be said this is the picture and truth of God’s and Christ’s love for us.
