Mission of Acts 2 Community Church
Matthew 28:19 ESV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Another words help bring them into a covenant relationship with God.
We have all been given this ministry of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18 ESV
18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
We are all ministers and missionaries.
God has created us for ministry.
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
God expects us to use the Gifts that He has given us for ministry.
1 Peter 4:10 ESV
10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:
We will be rewarded for ministry
Colossians 3:23–24 ESV
23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
It my job as a Pastor to equip you to be a good minister. You are the ministers and we are administrators.
It’s my job to care for the flock.
To teach the Bible.
To Reprove,
to exhort.
What to expect from the church and local congregation.
We believe that everyone has the responsibility to develop his/her own spiritual life,
to discover, develop and deploy his/her spiritual gifts.
We also recognize that each believer will need the help of other believers to accomplish those goals.
We sincerely want to be a local church family that provides opportunities for “ministering” and “being ministered to.”
I locate God given gifts and abilities and help you in that process.
Ephesians 4:11 NIV
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,
We ask you to commit to membership for 4 reasons:
1. A Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church. Ephesians 5:25…Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.
2. A Cultural Reason: It is an antidote to our society. We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything…a job…marriage…our country. This attitude has produced “consumer religion.” Becoming a member is an unselfish decision. Commitment always builds character.
3. A Practical Reason: It defines who can be counted on. Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment. Every business has a payroll. Every army has an enlistment. Even our country takes a census and requires voter registration. Membership identifies our family.
4. A Personal Reason: It produces spiritual growth. The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to any specific church family. Membership is a door of opportunity—a door that leads to greater connection, growth, identity and fulfillment. Membership strengthens the believer.
