INTRO:
Your mind is not renewed and born again when you get born again.
There is a natural tendency to drift in this world.
The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics describes basic principles familiar in everyday life.
It is partially a universal law of decay;
the ultimate cause of why everything ultimately falls apart and disintegrates over time.
Material things are not eternal. Everything appears to change eventually, and chaos increases.
We have been programmed for years through history, education, radio, tv.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Do not get involved in foolish discussions about spiritual pedigrees or in quarrels and fights about obedience to Jewish laws. These things are useless and a waste of time.
If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them.
For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them.
THE PROCESS OF A RENEWING OUR MIND
1. BE BORN AGAIN!
Nicodemus (John 3:1-7)
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
Paul’s purpose here is to Call The Believer’s To Purity; refusing worldly mentalities and stripping off the old ways of thinking:
With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.
Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him.
They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
But that isn’t what you learned about Christ.
Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him,
throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.
Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.
And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,
for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
2. REJECT TOXIC THINKING.
TAKE YOUR THOUGHTS CAPTIVE.
We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
Choose your thoughts carefully
Know your triggering thoughts and don’t dwell there
“Your life will be pulled in the direction of your most DOMINANT thoughts!”
“Think you can or thing you can’t; either way your right!”
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.
TAKE YOUR WORDS CAPTIVE
Words reinforce our thoughts
Ray Price “Heartache by the Number”
“I've got heartaches by the number / Troubles by the score / Everyday you love me less / Each day I love you more”
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
3. RE-PROGRAM YOUR MIND
MEDITATE
Take 5-10 minutes every day to cause your thought life to line up with God’s Word.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.

VERBALIZE
Speak these new thoughts out-loud.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
SET GOALS
Write them down!
If you think it, INK it!
Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
“Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.
