They are habits that lead to or promote spiritual growth.
They are habits that lead to or promote spiritual growth.
Holiness is not a suggestion, it is a command.
They can be both personal and interpersonal.
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.
So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
Spiritual Disciplines are activities not attitudes.

Disciplines are what you do.
They must be disciplines that are modeled in the Bible.

You may enjoy being outdoor because you feel close to god when you are there. However, being outdoors is not a spiritual discipline, even if you use that activity to exercise a spiritual discipline.
The spiritual disciplines in the Bible are sufficient.

We do not need to go beyond scripture to get close to God.
Spiritual discipline will never take us away from the Gospel, rather it will bring us closer to the Gospel. It does not bring us to a new level of spirituality or new knowledge. Rather, it brings us to a closer relationship with what has already been spoken through the Bible.
Spiritual Disciplines are means, not ends.

These disciplines are to bring us closer to God. They are not the goal in and of themselves.
