Today many churches across the world will quote THESE WORDS to some degree or extent… they have been declared nearly 2000 years...
They bring comfort and They challenge us
They draw our focus to look within
They challenge our motives
They cause us to want in this life what God has in heaven
They call us to have an eternal perspective to looking what is to come
THESE WORDS… were requested from the men closest to Jesus as He walked this sod… they asked, “Lord, teach us to pray” His gracious response was this… Matthew 6:9-13
“Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. ‘Give us this day our daily bread. ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.…”
In our prayers we are to look forward to the coming Kingdom of God!… and there will be a day when ULTIMATELY we will be “delivered from evil” forever!
Our passage today looks at when this will occur… the kingdom is about “to come” as we look as the Seventh Trumpet heralds forth its blast!!!… Revelation 11:15
Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”
The Hallelujah Chorus
The Hallelujah Chorus
The Kingdom Has Come! vs. 15
Hallelujah: simply put means a SHOUT or song of praise and thanksgiving…
Unlike previous trumpets that featured a single voice, the seventh trumpet is accompanied by a powerful chorus from heaven, signifying a collective proclamation of divine authority.
...”there were loud voices” this is an exciting thing that has come… long anticipated, a waiting and longing fulfilled. proverbs states that “hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire (or longing) fulfilled is a tree of life!”
Hear this, God has never ceased to be in control. He is sovereign. However, this world is the domain and kingdom of Satan! John 12:31 the very words of Jesus Christ!
The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.
1 Peter 5:8-9 gives a somber warning about our global adversary…
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
NOTICE: there is a shift that is about to take place with the blast of the seventh trumpet… “the kingdom of the world will BECOME the kingdom of our LORD and His Christ”
This shift in power and reign is ETERNAL!
The Kingdom, the long awaited kingdom is here!
This herald of this news, the kingdom has come sparks rejoicing…
There is a shift that will take place on Earth… satan will cease to rule, have power and dominion and we see Jesus Christ take His seat on the throne of David to RULE forever and ever!
This DECLARATION elicits praise in Heaven… it would stir praise in in John’s heart and his readers, and the Twenty-Four Elders Join in… Revelation 11:16-17
And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying, “We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
Worship & Gratitude
Worship & Gratitude
Reverence to the King! vs 16-17
Did you see the response of the Twenty-Four elders… absolute worship and gratitude…
It is a change in posture from being seated to once again on their faces bowed low before the King of kings!
Look at the words that come from their lips…
Thanks!!! as they admire and proclaim His power
WHY?… “BECAUSE” the power of God is initiating the “TIME” of His reign
Because You have begun to reign…
Answered prayer, “your kingdom come”
This trumpet is inspiring Worship, Praise, Gratitude… because prayer is answered, it is time!
As the elders praise and worship the Lord in their praise they declare what this means for Christ to reign, they declare what is to come in verse 18… Revelation 11:18
“And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
The Truth Reigns
The Truth Reigns
The Summation of His Rule! vs. 18
Verse 18 is the summation of chapter 12 through 22, the end of Revelation… it is a look at what is about to occur because Christ will reign.
The truth sheds light on what is false
Darkness flees from the light
The kingdom of darkness must be judged as the Kingdom of Light takes its place on earth!
For the first time in human history we will have One who is Truth, One who is Light, and He will reign on this earth…
The nations, this world and the world system will loath Him and His coming (enraged)… filled with anger, furious!
God will bring His wrath… this is INDIGNATION… a settled attitude of wrath.
Meaning it is the very character of God to oppose evil… this is not an outburst resulting from a temper or frustration. It is the very nature of God to deal with sin and evil.
The wrath that is seen as a result of the seventh trumpet blast is directly related to the Holiness of our God!
We will see the dead raised to judgment (the great white throne judgement)
We will see the saints rewarded at this time as well
It includes the sad truth of what is in store for those who do not know Jesus Christ… he will say to them, “depart from me. I never knew you.”
Oh the burden that should be on the hearts of believers as we read the following chapters of this book…
Heaven is real… and it is eternal
Hell is real… and it is eternal
After John hears the praises and declarations of the elders his attention is drawn to what he sees… Revelation 11:19
And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
Faithfulness Assured
Faithfulness Assured
God Will Fulfill His Promise! vs 19
Chapter 11 culminates with a vision of the heavenly temple being opened, revealing the ark of the covenant, which symbolizes God’s presence and covenant with His people. HOPE!!!
God’s faithfulness to His covenant, His promise, His people is assured
His presence with the people on earth was coming!
We have been looking at the earthly and now as we look to Heaven we are assured…
What has been in Heaven will now be on earth!
What a beautiful sight this must have been for John, such an encouragement to him and all believers… we serve a faithful God
The chapter began looking at the earthly temple to be measured, trampled upon by the nations… now it closes looking at the Heavenly Temple
We also see flashes of lightning, hear peals of thunder, we experience and hail storm… WHAT?
This is summation of the seven bowls of wrath (chapter 16)
The seventh trumpet contains with it the seven bowls of wrath to come as Christ returns to earth as He promised!
while the chapter concludes here, the narrative will continue in chapter 16…
The Lord’s Prayer, Kingdom, & Table
The Lord’s Prayer, Kingdom, & Table
Remembering Him!
We opened today with THE LORD’S PRAYER
We have looked at and observed in brevity THE LORD’S KINGDOM coming
In all this the focus has been on Him… I want to close today REMEMBERING HIM as we come to THE LORD’S TABLE
It is because of what He did at Calvary that we can pray / talk to God (He is our High Priest)
It is because of Calvary that we are able to be part of His Kingdom and have a future HOPE!
In 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 Paul writes:
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
“Until He comes”… there is a day when Jesus Christ is returning to rule and reign, as we remember Him, we look forward to Him as well!
