Joshua, 2025
Message #5
02/02/2025
Joshua 4.
Central Idea: It is our responsibility to ensure future generations know God.
Objectives: I want the hearers to know (cognitive) that God intends us to share His glory and power with future generations; to feel (affective) compelled to share what God has done in their lives; to courageously and joyfully tell others about what God has done to ensure future generations know Him.
Question: How do we ensure the next generation knows God?
Share with them what God has done. [vv. 1-7, 19-24.
Embrace divine memorial stones established in our lives (scars, seasons of trials, celebrations and victories, etc.)
Intentionally establish memorial stones to commemorate what God has done.
Tell others about what He has done.
Submit to the Lord. [vv. 8-18]
The people submitted to Joshua.
The priests followed his lead.
Joshua submitted to the Lord.
We should submit to our leaders are they submit to the Lord.
Response Questions:
[1] Have you experienced the glory and power of God, specifically in deliverance?
[2] When is the last time you shared about the power and glory of God in your life?
[3] Are their barriers in your life to submitting to the Lord?
Trust?
Fear?
Control?
Busyness?
Unrepentant sin?
