Short recap – feast of booth/tabernacles.
The Pharisees hear the people saying that Jesus is the Christ, and that is because of the signs he had done. And many believed in Jesus. Others what to arrest Jesus, and in verse 32 the chief priests and Pharisees send officers to arrest Jesus.
33) Jesus talking about his death, resurrection and ascension, say I will be here with you a little longer and then I am going to him who sent me.
34) You will seek me and you will not find me. – and you can’t go where I am.
35) The guess from the Jews is that Jesus might go to the Jews that live among the Greeks and teach them.
36) they wonder at Jesus saying. What does his words mean? What will Jesus do?
37) Jesus gets up at the last day of the feast, the great day and cried out: / and talked about the same as he did with the woman at the well in Samaria, about living water. Citing Isiaha 55:1-, If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink, - (Thirsty come to Jesus and drink and believe, hungry come to Jesus).
38) Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his hear will flow rivers of living water.” –
39) John helps us out, and explains what Jesus said, Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirt, - That when the people believed they would after Pentecost get a gift, living water, the Holy Spirt, - But there was a waiting time because Jesus was not yet glorified, (on the cross, and resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the father).
Will you come to Jesus for water/life? Believe and get the Holy Spirt? How will the people respond?
40) Somes say this is really the Prophet, Moses talked about. 41) Others said Jesus was the Christ/messiah – both are true and also king all are true) – but others said the Christ dose not come from Galilee. 42) The Christ is to come from Bethlehem as the scripture said in Mica 5:2. The village of David.
43) The people were divided, 44) arrest him – but no one did, as stated earlier in verse 30 it was not Jesus’ time yet.
In 45) we get a view of the Pharisees and the chief priest’s opinion as they question the officers why they did not arrest Jesus. 46) The response is” No, one ever spoke like this man. (if true it would be a time to pause and investigate the man, not just the rumors about him). That is not the opinion of the P and CF, - they jump to the conclusion/ ask if the officers have been deceived, and question them 48) has any of the authorities or reh Pharisees believed in him? (They don’t wait for an answer – but it is yes, not no as they would assume).  Instead in 49) they ridicule the crowd, saying they don’t know the law and is accursed, - interesting Jesus pointed out their sin of breaking the law, but they had no answer, and misunderstood the grace of God, and Gods healing and compassion, that they might obey their own manmade rules. But they are bind to it.
50-51) Wee meet Nicodemus again, who appeals to the law, and calls for the law to be obeyed and instead of condemning Jesus from afar, to hear what he said first.
 52) Classic Jewish, no answer, but only a question, a punish down, are you from Galilee too? You can search the scripture there is no prophet that arises form Galilee.  (True but Jesus origin is not from Galilee but Bethlehem, they have a theological problem but did not seek the answer, in getting to know Jesus, and who He is, and where he is from).

Jesus teaches that in his glorifications, in his life, death, resurrection, and ascension to the Fathers’ right hand. Whoever would believe can have the Holy Spirt the living water that quinces all thirst, out main thirst that we may have tried to quench or satisfy in many other ways, - likes, followers, being good, and popular, or hated, drugs, sex, money, things, praise of man, - Instead, trusting in Jesus, as the Christ, messiah, savior, God, the promised, Prophet, Priest, King, - all that people are looking for is found in Jesus, - and the gift of the Holy Spirt, the present of God in us, to give life, to satisfy, calm us, make us work for His glory, from understating that our Gods love was shown us in Jesus Christ, - I think John and Jesus could ask, do you feast on me? Bread and living water? Where do you get your energy and inspiration and mission from?  Come and drink.
What about me? What about you? What do you believe about Jesus? That sets the way you live your life and what, and how you think about who you are. Theology is for all, because it has a great impact for all.
Seek to Know Jesus the best you can, and you will not be lead astray when you see false teaching, in your life, you will know the truth and you are set free to follow Jesus. (Not to be taken captive by the world).
Are you thirsty? Come to Jesus.
