What do we know about sheep?

The Bible compares us to sheep, even mentioning that Jesus is the great shepherd.
John 10:11 NASB 2020
11 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
This is where Psalm 23 speaks to me. The LORD, Jesus, is my shepherd.
Psalm 23 NASB 2020
A Psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I will not be in need. 2 He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For the sake of His name. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6 Certainly goodness and faithfulness will follow me all the days of my life, And my dwelling will be in the house of the Lord forever.
Verse 1 the word “LORD” is the name of God, Yahweh
Yahweh is our shepherd.
As the shepherd he supplies everything we need.
Sometimes we go through difficult seasons or time, do we let God lead us through it to the green pastures of rest?
That is the “lets me lie down” he leads us to rest.
In this rest are quite wasters, a calm quiet place — the serene sound of the a brook, tends to have a calming effect. There is no wind or waves.
As His sheep we need to let God guide us — develop sheep and a shepherd
“He restores” — to bring back into original existence, use, or function. To come back, turn back — Develop
“Paths” — “Wagon tracks” — What do wagon tracks look like?
A course of conduct which is adherence to what is required according to a standard.
“The valley of the shadow of death” — valleys in Palestine, a deep or large area of dark shadow
In these valleys the sheep rely on the voice of the shepherd as their guide
John 10:27 NASB 2020
27 My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
Because we hear and listen there is no fear - Develop listen and follow
No fear of wolves coming into the flock - John 10:12-13
John 10:12–13 NASB 2020
12 He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters the flock. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and does not care about the sheep.
The rod is used to drive away predators.
The staff is a long, slender stick with a hook at the tip that's used to keep sheep close and out of danger.
Just some thoughts that come to mind as I think about the fact that we are so much like sheep in need of a good sheherd.
