INTRODUCTION:

1. This song was written to encourage God's people:

A. To know heaven is real and for everyone who seeks that grand abode.

B. To know heaven will never change.

C. To know in heaven, there will be nothing bad.

D. To know heaven is a place where God is glorified.

2. As we go through this song, let us be encouraged.

BODY:

1. VERSE ONE SUMMARY.

A. Heaven is real.

Matthew 25:31–34 NKJV
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

1. Why is it though, sometimes we live as if today is all that matters, if we believe heaven is real?

A. Unbelief takes many different forms but all are deadly.

Romans 11:20 NKJV
20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear.
1. Isreal was broken off by God because of their unbelief, but it was not because they did not claim to believe.
John 8:37–43 NKJV
37 “I know that you are Abraham’s descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you. 38 I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.” 39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 You do the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
2. True belief comes from action and if you have no action, you have no belief.
James 2:17 NKJV
17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
3. Dead faith does not truly believe in heaven.

2. Heaven is a real place prepared by Jesus Himself.

John 14:2–4 NKJV
2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

A. But we must be willing to go through Christ to get to heaven.

John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Matthew 7:13–14 NKJV
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
1. This leads me to the next point.

B. Heaven is for everyone who seeks that grand abode.

1. Heaven was not prepared for only a select few.

2 Peter 3:9 NKJV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

2. Heaven was prepared for all men (all humanity).

1 Timothy 2:1–4 NKJV
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

3. God desires all to seek heaven first, but not everyone desires to seek heaven before everything else.

Matthew 6:33 NKJV
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

A. Entrance into heaven is only restricted by our willingness to serve God, not by God's willingness to allow us entrance.

Isaiah 59:1–2 NKJV
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
1. We separate ourselves from God; He does not separate Himself from us.
Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV
6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
2. Nothing can separate us from God but ourselves.
John 10:28–29 NKJV
28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

4. We must seek heaven in order to find it.

Matthew 7:7 NKJV
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

A. No destination is ever obtained without seeking it first, and neither is the destination of heaven.

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

B. In order to get to the destination, one must walk down the path.

1 John 1:7 NKJV
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Isaiah 2:5 NKJV
5 O house of Jacob, come and let us walk In the light of the Lord.

2. VERSE TWO SUMMARY.

A. Heaven will never change because God is never changing.

Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
James 1:17 NKJV
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Malachi 3:6 NKJV
6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

B. This world is ever changing, but God remains the same.

Psalm 102:25–27 NKJV
25 Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. 26 They will perish, but You will endure; Yes, they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will change them, And they will be changed. 27 But You are the same, And Your years will have no end.

C. Heaven is eternal.

2 Corinthians 5:1 NKJV
1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

3. VERSE THREE SUMMARY.

A. In heaven, there will be nothing bad.

1. Darkness will not exist in heaven.

Revelation 22:5 NKJV
5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

2. Sorrow and death will not exist in heaven.

Revelation 21:4 NKJV
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

3. Sin will not exist in heaven.

Revelation 21:27 NKJV
27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
1 Corinthians 6:9–10 NKJV
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19–21 NKJV
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:5 NKJV
5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

4. VERSE FOUR SUMMARY.

A. Heaven is a place where God is glorified.

Revelation 4:6–11 NKJV
6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” 9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: 11 “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”
Revelation 11:16 NKJV
16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God,

B. If we expect to go to heaven, we have to learn to worship God here, because that is what we will do in heaven.

Revelation 7:11 NKJV
11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

CONCLUSION:

1. "O Zion, Zion, I long thy gates to see; O Zion, Zion, When shall I dwell in thee?"
