John 10:22-40 The Father and I are one.
About two, month has pass (verses 21-22) and Jesus is again in the Temple in Jerusalem.
Jesus is walking in the Solomon collande PPT map, - later a place the first Christians will meet, he is not alone and the Jews are gathering around Jesus saying he needs to say if he is the Christ, - now Jesus has said he is sent from the father do the fathers works, and only what the Father say, that he will lay down his life for his sheep, that he is the son of man, but not whether he is the Christ, - (Cultural reasons – misunderstand of the Christ – plus the Christ is a divine sent person and is also called Everlasting God).
What is Jesus going to say as they press him? I have already told you but you don’t believe what I tell you, And Jesus says: the works I do in my Fathers name bare witness about me. Jesus said it a lot look at my life and you can see who send me. But you don’t believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep hears my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (You don’t know me and you don’t follow me, - and you don’t believe). I give eternal life, and they will never perish, and they are safe in my hand, no one can take them from me.
29 My father is greater that all, he has given the sheep to me, and no one can take them out of his hand, - our hand is the same – I and the father is one.
Then Jesus hurts their brain with his answer, you don’t believe I am the Christ – but God of all creation and I are one. It is a pretty wild statement.
And 31 they do pick up stones to kill Jesus, - again like a mob killing in the temple and not as a right judgment, by all the community. (Showing that they don’t believe Jesus words – it seems like Jesus could have said whatever they would still try to kill him).
Jesus in a loving way ask them a question - Jesus I think in great wisdom and to try to help them asks for what of the many good works that I have done that are from the Father are you going to stone me? It gives them time to pause and reconsider, what Jesus is saying.
They say well it is because you make yourself a man God (it is fun because it is the other way around, being God, Jesus becomes a man).
Jesus will make a defense from a psalm 83 PPT. In the Psalm God has taken his place in the divine council – and holds judgment in the middle of the gods, - the God is asking why they are judge unjustly, and site with the wicked, - Instead God say: Give Justice to the weak, the fatherless, - uphold maintain the right of the suffering and destitute /poor, Save/rescue the week and needy, deliver from the wicked don’t side with them, (false gods walk in darkness – somehow the earth foundations are shaken.)
God then in 6 said what Jesus cite. You are god’s sons of the Most High, but you will die like any other price/person. – The great contrast to Jesus that has just said he gives eternal life. The call of the Psalmist is then for God to come and judge the earth. How will it all go? God will inherit all the nations. And lay them at His true son’s feet. If the people listen, would hear what Jesus is saying, - they might be even more mad, in a cense Jesus is calling them the false judges, the ones that oppress the poor and site with the wicked the ones walking in darkness, - it is a chance to repent and do what Jesus had come to do, give justice, heal, find the lost, give sight to the blind, later to judge all the earth and get praised by God for it. And pointing to his life Jesus say who do you think I am in the Psalm, I am I doing the works of God? If I am why don’t you believe. God has send me/made me Holy in verse 36, if you see the works you can see the Father and I are one.
, and state a truth “that scripture cannot be broken”, (the bible interprets the bible). In this case the OT. (The revelation of Godt the bible is not contradicting).
(Form the beginning people are like God, made in his image. All lies(form the devil in the begining) are that they are not and people are killed in war, abourtion, genoside ect.). Animals are not human, and human are not animals. The Imagode is important, made in the image of God.
If you don’t believe what I say believe the works - works of God or is he not, - if he is it points to God, and it points to him being the son of God, = the (Christ) that was to come, -But if the will not see the works as from God, if they will not listen, how will the know? They can’t. Jesus pushing a gain harder, the father is in me and I in him,
Jesus escaped for the 3 time in John, even as they were trying to arrest him. (It was not his time yet as John writes many other places in John)
Many come to Jesus and comment on John that he did no signs, but all he said about Jesus, was true, and many believed in him there. (All John said about Jesus was true).
What does it mean that the Fater and Jesus are one?
How does Jesus actions show who he is?
Jesus offers eternal life – safety in His and the Fathers hand. A true leader and one that is willing to lay down his life for his sheep. How do we respond? (Priase and joy, repentance, worship). Or
Are you like the Pharisees? Are you like the many that believed?
How much of our time are we judging things that only Jesus can? – Are we spending more time complaining than praying?
How much of my time is used giving thanks to Jesus for who He is and what he has done and what he is doing? – Thankfulness, combats complaining, judging, feeling sad for one self, - as one of my fried said as we ran I have a good life. (His life has not been easy, - he is a positive person).
Gospel for the religious and the indulger. – It is what Jesus offer not what you offer, - because of who God is. Not who you are.
