Never alone
Never alone
Welcome to the 2nd week of our little micro series.
Last week was on marriage.
and this week we are going to visit God’s Word on singleness.
Once, in a small town, a lonely sapling was planted in a barren plot.
Despite the odds, day by day, rain and sunlight nourished it,
and it grew into a magnificent tree, shading the community park.
How many lives benefited from that single tree—children playing beneath its branches, couples finding solace in its shade.
This mirrors our lives as Christians; no matter how insignificant we may feel,
we have the power to affect many through our actions,
just as that tree did, proving that God can use us to bring life and joy to others.
Now honestly this is not a lesson in life that i have experienced much.
I have been married for over 37 years of my life.
I have found it rather odd
that in our scripture today
Paul writes
8 To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am.
9 But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
Come on Paul
“it is good to remain single”
Really the only reason to marry is to “exercise self-control”
Yet note to those listening
verse 10
is one of the toughest verses on marriage in all of Scripture
10 To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord): the wife should not separate from her husband
so we have our work cut out for us today.
To the married i warn you of this… YOU are married.
this lesson today is for you to learn to GROW those around in in Christ Jesus.
To the young people here —- Well strap yourself into the chair,
You may be CALLED by GOD
But you may need a reminder of your Christian Walk
you need to obey GOD.
that means that —- that awesome person you are dating
is a child of GOD
that person is a committed Christian ——- YUP
we are called to marry and date other Christians of the opposite sex.
14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
you are still to live in obedience to Christ
and YES it is hard.
you are attracted to that person .… and like ROD STEWARD
they are asking you “ DO YOU THINK IM SEXY...”
and your answer is YUP,
but i am in LOVE WITH JESUS
YES LIVING IT OUT IS TRULY LOVING IT OUT
and JESUS says..
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
and Jesus says that sex is for MARRIAGE.
Come on be honest —
ALL THE SINGLE PEOPLE
ITS a CHALLENGE
You “ love” that person you are with and SATAN is lying to you.
i remember listening to a song by LaCrae a few years ago
and the lyrics were talking about a boy and a girl.
He sang that a real Christian man wouldn’t ask a woman to sin with him.
pretty convicting stuff.
and for the married parents, and married people here today.
You CAN NOT condone SIN.
You actually think you can LIVE together and Play house
You think you are strong enough
You need to set healthy boundaries.
and you, as we taught the other week, you need to USE the church to stay pure.
Friends —- here is a TRUTH.
as Christians we live our life so that we will go to Heaven
we must TRUST in the WORD
and here is a SINGLENESS TRUTH
if you want a great marriage,
YOU DO RIGHT?
Then don’t MUDDY that Water with SIN
and SEX outside of marriage is SIN.
You are NOT strong enough to be in a car alone with that person
you are NOT strong enough to LIVE WITH ANOTHER
Trust me you should only date in Groups
(and Groups that will encourage you with RIGHT not Justify wrong)
If you truly think that YOU FOUND THE PERSON to spend your LIFE with
then get married to THEM.
Don’t Disobey GOD and live with the Consequences that WILL happen.
So NOW you GOT your RIGHTEOUSNESS reminder and you GOT a little REBUKING
Lets look at the Beauty of GOD. okay?
LIVING SINGLE
LIVING SINGLE
Imagine a garden where every flower is flourishing independently.
Just like some flowers bloom beautifully on their own, so do those who are single!
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 7:8-9 about the gift of singleness.
It’s a season to cultivate our own spiritual lives and to grow deep roots in faith.
Besides, being a single flower in God's garden has its perks
—like soaking up all the sunlight all day long!
I will make a note here that if you want to discuss the other verses in this section.
I invite you to set up an appointment with me, or one of the leaders ASAP
Paul addresses Marriage Separation, Unequally YOKED, and LIVING with an UNSAVED PERSON.
We will be having our SUMMER OF LOVE series —starts June 1
I love to hike
I love to get to a place and overlook the forest
When i see that it is a beautiful picture of God working all things together
yet with the same amount of AWE
seeing a single tree in the middle of a field.
standing there is all its own glory
When i see that picture the first thing that i picture is
that tree standing alone
a picture of GOD’s glory
Duality of Life
Duality of Life
Single or Married
it is either one or the other
it has always been my call to be married
yet for many others their call is to be SINGLE
Single is NOT ALONE
Single is NOT a FAILURE
Single can be a CHOICE or a CALLING
Single can be a FOCUS on OTHERS
The ancient cedar of Lebanon is a symbol of strength and endurance in the Bible,
often mentioned in connection with God's creation.
It thrives high in the mountains, reaching towards the heavens.
Similarly, we, too, can aspire to be like that mighty tree in our Christian walk,
rooted firmly in the Word,
growing upwards in faith.
When others see our steadfastness,
they are inspired to seek the source of our strength,
leading them to Christ,
the true foundation of life.
Let us be those towering, resilient trees that reflect God's glory.
The questions that WILL arrive in a SINGLE person
When?
and
IF?
When will i find the right person
and WHAT IF i don’t
Friends
the When and IF are GOD decisions not YOURS
we are NOT commissioned to
GO to a Relationship Store
and touch and pickup each item there.
we are called to Wait or Hope upon the LORD
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Peace and Patience come only from the HOLY SPIRIT
We are called to Wait, Wonder, and Worship.
Friends let encourage those around us.
Let us remind them to OBEY the LORD
Do not encourage SIN, because it DOES matter
Let us REMIND them that GOD’s Way is always PERFECT.
