Communion
Jesus shared with His disciples that we are to remember Him as often as we come together… this is done when the bread is broken, the cup is drank. He left us beautiful pictures to look back and remember:
His body broken for you and me
His blood shed for the atonement for our sin
This is also a good reminder for us to not only look back… BUT LOOK AHEAD! 1 Corinthians 11:26
For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
Part of our REMEMBRANCE as we take communion together points our minds to LOOK AHEAD to what He has promised, to His Second Coming!
Last week we looked at what John HEARD as the multitudes declared His coming… this week we are getting a glance of what John SAW as Jesus Christ comes again!
Today I want us to SEE (OBSERVATIONS) SOME THINGS…
The majesty and power of our Savior Jesus Christ
The true power of His Word
I want us to HUMBLY examine our heart and mind’s perspective of Jesus Christ
Look for these things as we see in scripture this Second Coming of Jesus Christ (The Anointed One) let’s look at Revelation 19:11-21
The Conqueror

This morning as we observe His second coming I want us to LOOK at the CONQUEROR and His CONQUEST.
It must have taken John’s breath away as he saw Heaven open up… IMAGINE what this will look like as one on earth!!!
I want to look at His Description… and then consider with you His Names…

The White Horse…
We have seen the white horse before in Revelation… the Anti-christ would ride it coming with a false peace, wearing a victors crown through a conquest of his own yet...
Warfare, Famine, and Death follow him
The white horse was reserved for a warrior who came back victorious from battle
Yet Christ’s victory here is assured… He rides into battle on the white horse
Eyes of Fire
We saw this gaze of fiery eyes as we began our study in 1:14
These eyes will pierce the souls of mankind refining and exposing the DEEPEST thoughts and motives of the heart
His Many Crowns!!!
While the Anti-christ wears a perishable victors crown
We see Christ… God Almighty coming wearing many crowns!
Representing His sovereign and absolute authority
This image would inspire Matthew Bridges hymn written in 1852
Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne:
Hark! how the heav’nly anthem drowns, All music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing, Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King, Thru all eternity
Robe Dipped in Blood
Whose blood is this???
Some have speculated this represents the shed blood of the Lamb of God for the sin of mankind
A better understanding however would be the blood of those He conquers… those He treads in the winepress

We see once again the fierce wrath of God Almighty…
God is just and He is coming to deliver His righteous wrath… what a sight!
With His Armies
WHAT A SIGHT THIS WILL BE!!!
It is also possible that those riding into battle will be angelic beings too
The clothing of His army is like that of His bride… We will be engaging with HIM!
Notice we are riding white horses as well but it says nothing of our weapons
We are there to watch our King victorious!
We will ride in with Him and we will rule with Him!
John also describes how the rule of Christ will be…
Rule with Rod of Iron
Jesus Christ is coming to RULE… His rule will be a righteous one. His Kingdom will run perfect as one with a perfect King
Interestingly this word for RULE here is NOT one that indicates harsh dictator rule
RATHER… we see this word rule as that of a Direct involvement, personal and actively involved… in many places it is translated “SHEPHERD”… the Lamb of God shepherding His kingdom
Before He rules there will be a conquest however… and that conquest will be accomplished by one weapon only…
Sword of the Mouth
This is the only weapon we see described, but the weapon is that of the VERY WORD OF GOD!
This type of sword mentioned here is a Piercing long sword double edged… Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

I think that all too often we fail to realize the true POWER OF GOD’S WORD!!!
Jeremiah 23:29 declares this concerning God’s Word… ““Is not My word like fire?” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock?”

For us it is the thing we engage in battle of this life with (Armor of God) Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

We fail to use the very thing God has given us for this life 2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

David would declare in Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”

At best we allow His Word to look nice on a table or shelf, we read small portions hoping the chosen text comfort, encourage, or maybe even give us a boost!
Seldom do we approach His Word as the very source of our power, the necessity of life that it offers
We forget what we have in our possession!
John describes the scene in a powerful way for us, but I want us to consider Jesus Christ… let’s take just a moment to consider the names by which He is known and described here by.…

Faithful and True (a contrast)
Such a contrast to the anti-christ
Where the anti-christ would break his covenant… we see Jesus faithful to His Word
True… as lies and deception flood this word and deceive mankind… riding down from Heaven is the One who embodies TRUTH…
Mystery
I love here that there is yet a name we do NOT know
So magnificent is our Savior Jesus Christ… there are still things we will not be able to comprehend!!!
The Word of God
This name of Jesus is one of John’s favorite… this is how he introduces Jesus in his gospel he wrote… John 1:1-3;14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
God has communicated to us… He communicated His love, His standard, His sacrifice, His power.… as Christ comes again He demonstrates the Power of His Word as He defeats Satan and those who follow Him ALL with His Word!
WE FORGET… the same POWERFUL WORD OF GOD that defeats Satan is the SAME WORD He has given you and I to engage in this life!
We fail to see its power because we fail to know it
We fail to know it because it takes TIME, INTENTION, and DESIRE
AND… in failing to KNOW its POWER… to know God’s Word we actually fail to KNOW the author, the very Word who became flesh
We remain comfortable seeing Jesus as a loving comfortable Savior who died for us…
And we fail to understand and see Him in ALL His glory and power as the…
King of kings and Lord of lords
This is a name of One who is SOVEREIGN
This is the name of One who above all other rule
This is the name of One who is GOD above any other… THE ALMIGHTY
And what a grand placement of this name… on His thigh the strongest most powerful muscle in the body!
Bearing this name on His thigh Jesus Christ comes in VICTORY… look at His conquest briefly with me…
The Conquest

For all the build up and description of the assembling of forces in the Valley of Armageddon, and the work and deception of the Beast and False Prophet to gather the nations for this battle against Israel and now directed at Christ… In all truth it is somewhat anti-climatic.
Hollywood of late, has taken to making movies, and series based on events in the scripture. (PLEASE REMEMBER… these series are NOT scripture) They take artistic license and in many cases add and change the actual events and narratives to spice things up. As if what God has done, and will do is not spectacular enough. They want to add drama and suspense…
Sorry folks, no drama here and no real suspense… Christ wins and He does so without much effort whatsoever…
The Coming Victory
Angel in the sun… imagine the image of this, and Christ is even greater.
This angel has a message and he calls out to all the birds…
Call to “The Great Supper”…
This may fit a horror movie actually…
Christ is coming and death is inevitable
The Assembly Crushed
ARE YOU READY FOR THE BATTLE… it simply states the BEAST and the FALSE PROPHET are seized.
Alive these two are thrown into the Lake of Fire
They will be joined later by Satan and others (we will loo at Satan next week)
Now what about the Armies, warriors, all those armed with powerful weapons in opposition of God?
Verse 21 simply reads… “And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.”
They are dealt with with the power of His Word…
The Word of God that spoke the galaxies into existence Psalm 33:6 “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.”

The Word of God that calmed the storms, silenced the waves, and told Lazarus to walk out of the grave!
With His Word the battle is over, and the birds feast! With His Word the victory is had… and man has the audacity to mock God’s Word.

Scripture says that this Jesus we see in our passage today is coming...
Scripture states that one day every knee will bow every tongue confess “He is Lord!”…
Are you giving Him the proper place in your life?
Are you appreciating the POWER of His Word that you have in your hands?
OR DO YOU FIND YOURSELF LACKING???…
Lacking a right relationship with Jesus Christ
Lacking the power He desires you to live with
That can change today! You can make the choice today to receive Him, take hold of the power He gives, and live for Him!
Will You? What is holding you back and is it really worth it?
