John 12:37-50 (Light, savior, eternal life).
People’s responses to Jesus and God sovereignty in salvation:
A summation of why Jesus came, some believed some did not, some hid their faith in fear of the Pharisees, others, - most people, did not believe as: Isaiah had prophesized, blinded their hearts, hardened their heart, - so they could not turn and be healed, by God, why would God make peoples hears hard and ears not able to hear - here is a mystery of God, and the sovereignty of God in salvation we can argue til we are blue in our face, but we can’t save our self, - and still we are accountable for all we do, also weather we trust in Jesus. (Romans we have no excuse).
God’s peoples’ rejection of the messiah – like with Isaiah, if the people that kept rejecting God’s word, that Isaiah was speaking – some people did the same, even after they saw great signs from Jesus, they still rejected Jesus’ teaching and life, those people rejected Gods word – Jesus and the one who send Jesus.
Isaiah saw Jesus’ glory when he got his vison of God In Chapter 6, - and share Gods word but people reject it as did many with Jesus. But:
In the next verse: many even of the authorities believed in him, - beliefis possible then and now. But they were not public about it because they fearedthe Pharisees, as the man born blinds parents. They did not want to be cast out of social and religious life. Opposite, Mary and the disciples they set all their hope in Jesus.
A pause: What about us? (Are we hiding our faith in fear? The good news; I don’t think we need to, Jesus died that we might be free in him to live for God, by the Holy Spirt). The big question do we fear people more that God? Do we really want to face God and say I was afraid of that person, but not you… Watch out for the praise of man! That can lay a trap for our feet. And lead to death.
Jesus’ response to God the father: Recap of Jesus mission:
Jesus states as before, whoever believes in him, believes in the one who send him - God the father.
If you see me, you see God the father. (Jesus the exact imprint of God and his nature). (That is also why he dies).
Jesus came as the light of the world, the true light, the light of man, - the whoever that believes in Jesus will not remain in darkness but come to the light and live in the light (in Jesus).
Jesus came to save (John 3: 16) not to judge, the world, -
The ones that reject Jesus and his words will be judged – they will be judgedby the words Jesus spoke on the last day the words they rejected – (Jesus is the word and is God).
Jesus said what the father told him to say and Jesus comes with his authority, and Jesus speaks what God has asked him to do. And what Jesus was told to teach and speak is what makes up eternal life, knowing who Jesus is and trusting in Him.
Jesus came to do my fathers will. Eternal life is to know Jesus.
Where are we? Where do we need encouragement?
The good news Jesus came to save, - and show who God is to us, we can trust in believe in him, listen and have eternal life, in Christ Jesus.
